N.Z. Photo workshops.

We pride ourselves on offering real photographic education that helps participants become better photographers

Throughout your workshop, you will enjoy the full benefit of Allan's extensive experience, offering friendly, practical and personal advice on subjects like creative use of shutter speeds and apertures, composition, good light, equipment and creativity. Whether you are a beginner or enthusiast, each workshop is designed to help develop your skills as a Landscape/Nature photographer, whilst also visiting some beautiful locations.

It is our belief that photography workshops should be something more than an opportunity to visit a cool place and make great photographs. They should also be a place where people come together and exchange ideas and learn through the guidance of the instructor to "think" like a photographer. This includes helping you define goals for personal photographic work and to hone, clarify and refine the unique photographic voice, which is yours.

Ultimately we want you to be inspired by what you learn, to find new and creative ways to see, to come away from your workshop with great pictures, and to have had a fantastic all around experience.

So sign up now! It's time to stop taking snapshots and start taking photographs!

Our next, Landscape / Nature photography workshop will be:

In the Maniatoto, Central Otago, over the weekend of 19th/20th May.

It's Landscape / Nature photography, but if the conditions are kind, as a bonus we'll also photograph star trails Saturday night.

We are hoping to catch autumns last gasp of splendour, before the really snotty winter weather arrives - not that winter weather can’t give us beautiful photography conditions; it’s just different.

Being only a month off the winter solstice means the sun stays low in the sky throughout the day: raking golden light across the land to show off it’s beautiful forms.  It also means we get to sleep-in somewhat :-)

This workshop is restricted to six participants, meaning that Allan is able to give maximum personal attention to each participant.  This also minimizes location overcrowding.

The workshop concentrates on working in the field with early starts and lateish evenings - we wouldn’t want to miss the best light!  Between, will be lessons, exercises and critiquing of photos.  However it's not meant to be an endurance course either, so there will be time to relax, chat and chill out as well.

Our next one day course:

This course is for people who have just bought a digital SLR camera, and want to get the most out of it. Courses are held as soon as we have enough people interested.  We run them throughout the year, often on a Saturday.
